The hooded crow in view
Anyone who has ever seen a hooded crow does not forget it quickly: a bird with a slate-grey body and deep black head, breast, wings and tail. As if someone painted it in exactly two colours. In our regions you mostly spot this species along coasts and in the north, while the all-black carrion crow rules the inland. That rarity makes it beloved among true bird connoisseurs.
Corvids deserve respect
Crows belong to the most intelligent birds in the world. They use tools, remember faces and solve problems that leave even some mammals behind. Yet they rarely receive the appreciation given to tits and robins. This thimble pushes back a little: here the clever hooded crow gets its place on porcelain, presented just as beautifully as any other bird.
For whom is this a special gift?
For the birder who keeps a serious species list, for nature guides and for anyone fascinated by smart animals. Collectors of slightly unusual motifs will also find here a piece that starts conversations: there are not that many crows on thimbles after all.
A place in your collection
Put him next to other larger birds such as gulls and geese, or right between songbirds as a wink. Keep the porcelain dry, dust-free and out of direct sunlight. That way this high-contrast motif stays sharp and your collection keeps telling stories about all the birds of the Netherlands and Belgium.
Animal lovers without a specific interest in birds are often equally charmed by this clever face. After all, it is hardly an ordinary garden bird, and that is exactly what keeps table conversations so lively whenever visitors open the display cabinet at home.
