Lion MEG 1997 Plastic Vintage Animal Figure

The lion, king of the savanna

The lion is one of the most majestic animals in the world, a symbol of strength and courage. This miniature figure by MEG brings the imposing presence of the lion to life in a compact format. MEG, a German brand active from the 1960s onwards, was known for its realistic plastic animal figures that appealed to both children and adults. The lifelike representation of this figure shows the pride and dignity that make the lion one of the most admired animals on earth.

Vintage MEG from 1997

This particular specimen was produced in 1997, in the final years of the MEG brand. Figures from this period have gained a special collectible value, as the brand no longer manufactures new pieces. The detailed execution of the lion shows the characteristic mane, the powerful build and the distinctive expression that any lion enthusiast will recognise. MEG was known for the lifelike colouring of their figures, and this specimen is an excellent example of that quality.

The plastic construction is sturdy and the colour scheme is rendered realistically. The figure is carefully painted, resulting in a natural appearance that looks excellent in a display case or on a shelf. The lion is depicted in a relaxed posture, typical of a lion resting in the shade after a hunt.

Collecting and decorating

MEG animal figures have been popular with miniature animal collectors for years. This lion figure fits perfectly into an existing MEG collection or makes a fine starting point for a new one. It is also a charming decorative piece that can be placed on a desk, shelf or in a display cabinet. Combine it with other MEG animals from the same era for an impressive safari collection.
